This is optional since you’ve already shared the Champions Facebook page, but is another great way to spread the word. A third way you can help get the word out about Champions for a Cause is to share a link to our website (http://www.championsforacause.net) . In your own Facebook page, click on the link option when you go to make a status update. As you fill in the blanks in the pop up window, you can click on the title and/or the description of the link to edit the details and make it more descriptive for your friends.

Telling the Story

Last night, Montana Silversmiths was proud to host a reception for the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce. It was very exciting to invite the local community in to see the newly remodeled offices and production area and introduct some of our new production technology.

*Note* this was a great preview of what’s to come in the Aug 20 Montana Silversmiths Production Plant tour. We want lots of people to come in for this rare opportunity to see inside!

Before the grand tour, Rick Ruebusch, Montana Silversmiths’ CEO, spoke with the Chamber crowd about the importance of supporting local businesses, and how Montana Silversmiths is firmly standing by that belief both in the plant’s practices, but also why Champions for a Cause was started.

Then Judy Wagner, Montana Silversmiths’ Marketing Director, presented the story of how the idea for Champions began, the work that is already done to towards our goals, and how the local community can participate, have fun, and “raise a barn” at the same time.

You can download the information packet here, with details on how to sign up for the tournaments, submit donations for the silent and live auctions, buy dinner tickets and more.

Find Elmer! An Online Scavenger Hunt

Find Elmer the Horse August 18,19 and 20 at the Champions for a Cause events! He’ll be visiting each event to take pictures and sign autographs.

Everyone is invited to participate in the Champions for a Cause online scavenger hunt. It’s as easy as 1 – 2 – 3!

  1. Follow @mtsilversmiths on Twitter for clues to where Elmer is headed next. You can also see the Twitter clues on Montana Silversmiths’ Facebook page in the Twitter tab.
  2. Find Elmer at the Champions for a Cause events (yes, all of them) and take a picture.
  3. Post the picture on Twitter @MTSilversmiths with the hashtag #findElmer

Participants receive an autographed photo of Elmer. A grand prize for the one who finds Elmer the most!

A Champion of Inspiration

To participate in planning this giant fundraiser is truly empowering. Of course as time grows closer to the Champions for a Cause event in August, more and more people will join our ranks to help guide each individual event … the receptions, tournaments, rodeos, auctions. For those of us who took picked up this idea and set down to make it happen, it is an overwhelming thing to consider.

Judy Wagner, our champion of planning, started today’s meeting with a truly inspirational message. Admitting that she too is daunted by the task before us, she drew a circle on a piece of paper:

The big blue circle? Our task at hand. As one person, the skills I can use toward this task, the people I know to reach out to for help … it seems so small by myself.

But when we add our circles of influence together, suddenly the task is manageable. Working together, we can make this incredible thing happen!

Your part doesn’t have to accomplish everything. It only needs to compliment our other parts to play – through volunteering, donating the places, pieces and prizes we need to make these events happen, sponsoring participants or just adding a little cash to the fund’s goal. How can you help?

Spreading the Word with Info Cards

It’s a great event to talk about – fun events, helping the community, boosting our local economy – and we need *lots* of people to get involved. Getting people to take action and sign up to volunteer, sponsor and participate is just made easier with Champions for a Cause information cards. They’re a little bit like a business card that you can hand out to spread the word so people can take them home, think about it, and hop online here to take action.

Need a stack of cards? Email msmith@montanasilversmiths.com with your request.

Planning Update

At today’s meeting we clarified the events hosted at the Bringing Business Home event, this August. Next week is the deadline to complete the event schedules so we can write the sponsor/info packet. Committees chairs are assigned with setting more details for each of their event scopes.

The next meeting is in two weeks.
